Workshop Report – Social Media & Online Communication
13 May 2022 – At the start of the new year, we visited a number of network members to get a better idea of the biggest challenges that are faced by local organizations and how we can help to overcome these. It turned out that many local organizations struggle with questions around the use of social media and online communication. That is why we decided to dedicate our spring workshop to this topic. The workshop took place on the 13th of May in the building of the media-and-culture department of Utrecht University. The event was attended by participants from various network members, the Anders Utrecht team and connections associated with the Anders Utrecht project.
During the workshop, three university researchers with a background in media studies – Dan Hassler-Forest, Thomas Boeschoten and Jeroen Bakker – gave a short presentation. These presentations addressed several topics and questions, such as:
What is the added value of social media for local organisations, initiatives and citizen movements?
How can local organizations maintain their online presence in the most efficient way?
Which social media channels are best used to reach certain target groups?
After the presentations, we held a group discussion led by Anders Utrecht team member Dan. During this discussion, participating organizations could share their questions and experiences with the group. In this way, participants had the opportunity to learn from each other and ask specific questions to the speakers. The workshop was concluded with a networking drink where participating organizations got to know each other and the Anders Utrecht team.
More workshops like this will follow soon. Become an Anders Utrecht member or subscribe to our mailing list using the form below for regular updates on events.
